Flannery and Jon’s wedding took place across two of the Dallas Arboretum’s most romantic settings: a Lay Family Garden ceremony, followed by a tented reception at the Alex Camp House. The design leaned fully into elements of nature, with a palette of deep plum, chocolate brown, ivory, and mossy greens. At the ceremony, two sculptural altar pieces framed the top of the garden steps, with moss and floral clusters trailing down to the aisle below, dotted with moody floral blooms.
Cocktail hour took place around the koi pond, while guests were serenaded by a string quartet. Guests entered the reception tent through a pair of moss-covered archways, doubling as an interactive escort display. Each guest found their name and table number on a handmade dragonfly, a detail created by Mavenette Calligraphy & Design. The dragonfly holds a special, symbolic meaning for Flannery and Jon as a sentimental nod to loved ones who have passed, so this was an important personal detail we wanted to include in the design of the day.
Inside the tent, a concentrated hanging installation of greenery, Spanish moss, and amaranthus stretched above the brown-and-white checkered dance floor, creating an intimate, forest-like canopy for guests to dance beneath. At dinner, guests were seated at lamp-lit tables and a dramatic oversized serpentine table running the length of the tent. Each guest’s place was complete with a hand-rolled dinner menu scroll tucked into a place card holder.
The evening later transitioned into a full silent disco after party, complete with light-up headphones, disco ball details, and passed cheeseburger sliders, fries, and espresso martini shooters to keep the celebration going.
Sentimental, personal, and high in style, this wedding left the guests feeling like they could see Flannery and Jon in every last detail.
